Zachary Hayes (1932-2014)
Zachary Hayes OFM, a prolific scholar and translator — particularly of the works of St. Bonaventure — died this past March. An obituary is posted here.
Fall conferences
- My own institution (CU/Boulder) is sponsoring an interdisciplinary conference on “Medieval Materiality” (Oct. 23-25, 2014). They’re hoping for submissions from philosophers. The cfp runs through May 1. For more details see here.
- The 39th Kölner Mediaevistentagung (“Disciples and Masters”) runs Sept. 9-12, 2014.
- Ghent University is organizing a conference on Secondary qualities: the transition from quality to quantity (Oct. 2-3, 2014). Although mainly focused on 17th-century developments, they’re sure to be interested in papers looking at the scholastic background. The cfp deadline is May 31.
