Conferences

• The Toronto-Berlin-Groningen Workshop on Medieval and Early Modern Philosophy meets in Groningen this year, on December 5-7, 2013. Details here.
• The call for papers has just been posted for the 20th annual SIEPM Colloquium, on the Origin and Nature of Language and Logic in Medieval Islamic, Jewish, and Christian Thought.  The CFP deadline is Jan. 31. The conference will take place Aug. 20-23, 2014, in Freiburg. Details here.

 

Representation and Reality

Thanks to a generous grant from the Swedish Riksbankens jubileumsfond, a group of scholars centered around the University of Gothenburg, and led by Christina Thomsen Thörnqvist, have begun a multi-year project entitled “Representation and Reality: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives on the Aristotelian Tradition.”

Several post docs will be advertised in conjunction with this project, and an ambitious series of workshops and conferences is already underway, running all the way to 2019.

• Platonism after Plato in the Renaissance Jointly organized by the Centre for Neoplatonic Virtue Ethics, University of Copenhagen, and the Warburg Institute. Date: 7 – 8 November 2013
• Medieval Philosophy Network (UK), at the Warburg Institute. Date: Nov. 15, 2013
• “Analysis and Synthesis – Philosophical Method and Scientific Methodology in Ancient and Medieval Thought” , sponsored by VU University, Amsterdam. Date: December 18-21 2013
• Francesco Patrizi: Philosopher of the Renaissance. Center for Renaissance Texts at Palacký University Olomouc (Czech Republic) will hold an international conference on the philosophy of Francesco Patrizi. Date:  24-26 April 2014. PhD students are encouraged to submit an abstract: successful submissions by PhD students will be offered a subsidy of Euro 460. Please submit abstracts to Prof. Tomáš Nejeschleba by December 1, 2013
• “Meister Eckhart and St. Gregory Palamas: the Actuality of Spiritual Experience.”  St. Petersburg State University, Faculty of Philosophy.  Date: 26-28 June 2014.  CFP deadline Dec. 1, 2013
